Honoring Our Roots-Food Justice w. Harvest Kitchen & Urban FACTS

Wednesday, September 13, 2017 - 6:30pm to 9:30pm
Pawtucket, RI

2 Bayley St, Pawtucket, RI 02860

Everyone loves to eat, but not everyone is aware of the journey that their food takes in order to get to their plate. “Good food” – food that is healthy, affordable, fair, and green – within the contexts of food access and health, food justice and sovereignty, the environment, and racial equity. This event will address these topics and highlight a timeline that provides a sample of important U.S. events, policies, and statistics over the past 70 years that mark the growth of local food through the lens of the four elements of good food.

Everyone loves to cook! The cooking demonstration will highlight local, seasonal foods and use simple cooking techniques to create delicious meals. When fresh ingredients are used, there is no need for complexity-the flavors & freshness will be evident in every bite. No amount of fancy techniques in cooking will help if the ingredients are not of the highest quality. Fresh, local, delicious!!
